DaybreakFolio covers global affairs for readers who want to know why something is happening as well as what happened. A ceasefire, a trade dispute or a disputed election comes with history, institutions and rival claims that rarely fit into a breaking-news alert. We write the longer version.
There are five sections. World Affairs follows international developments and the background behind them. Explainers slows down on one subject, whether a treaty, a border question or an institution few people outside it understand. Economy looks at trade, sanctions, currencies and the forces that move between countries. Culture covers ideas, art and expression across communities. Science & Technology deals with research and inventions whose effects travel well beyond a lab or a product launch.
Context is what links those sections. A country is not one voice and neither is a community, so we try to show who is saying what and on what basis. We separate confirmed events from forecasts and from allegations that are still contested. Dates and places are stated. A figure comes with its source and its limits, and a translated quotation is checked against the original where we can find it. When something is uncertain, the article says so plainly instead of filling the gap with a confident guess. Relevant perspectives are included, but unsupported claims do not get equal weight just because someone made them.
New evidence can change an account. When it does, we update the piece, and a material mistake gets a correction readers can see.
Use the Contact page to challenge a source, point out a missing perspective or suggest an explainer. Tell us which passage you mean, and share evidence in a way that does not put anyone at risk.
